2017 Brought Changes for Michelle Lynn Holsey Foundation

The Board of Directors of the Michelle Lynn Holsey Foundation has announced that, beginning in 2017, its annual National Cutting Horse Association-sanctioned six-day cutting, as well as the related events, will be moved to the Brazos County Expo Complex, in Bryan/College Station TX.  This is due primarily to the increased number of entrants, lack of stalls and space for livestock, trucks and trailers, causing the event to have simply outgrown the facilities in Crockett.

2016 proved to be a record-setting year for the Foundation.  Each fall, during the first full week of October, a six-day cutting is held, along with a Gala Dinner, Live & Silent Auctions, and Concert, all of which have grown exponentially since the Foundation was established in 2006.  Cutting horse contestants come from all across the country.

2017 will mark the 11th anniversary of the Foundation, which was created in honor of Michelle Lynn Holsey, a very unique lady, wise beyond her years, and generous to a fault.  She was known far and wide for her compassion for others, always being the tireless volunteer and organizer for school and civic functions, a dedicated Christian, and a wonderful wife and mother.

The Foundation’s purpose is to assist men, women and children in their quest to battle cancer and other debilitating diseases/conditions by providing need-based grants for treatment, medication, travel, lodging, utilities, and general living expenses.  Since its origin, the Foundation has provided grants in excess of $511,500 to many deserving individuals.  Assistance is not limited to residents of Houston County, nor the State of Texas, rather, grants have been awarded throughout the entire United States……….in other words, wherever there is a need.

In addition to grants, every year, five $1,000 scholarships are presented to graduating seniors from Houston County schools, with over $47,500 in scholarships having been awarded to deserving youth over the years.

The MLH Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, and donations and memorials made in honor of friends or loved ones are tax deductible.

The Foundation office is located at 1200 South 4th Street, and its mailing address is PO Box 652, Crockett TX 75835-0652.  For additional information about the Foundation, go to, or email
